Can cadets explain why the programme is progressive?
Introduce the syllabus as a route from Basic through 4-Star, with leadership and healthy living running across it.
Sort subject cards into a complete set, then identify subjects already experienced.
Name four core subjects and the next star level.
Use local examples to show camps, sport, music, STEM, shooting competitions and instructional opportunities.
Match opportunity cards to skills they could develop.
Distinguish a core subject from a wider opportunity.
Explain that approved training can contribute to recognised awards and, where applicable, vocational qualifications and DofE.
Build a simple pathway from an interest to a possible award.
Give two examples without guaranteeing entitlement.
Model a specific, achievable cadet goal.
Complete ‘My next step’: activity, action, person to ask and target date.
Is each goal specific and realistic?
Revisit the three pillars, test with three quick questions and look forward to Values & Standards.
